Met Council’s Emergency Preparedness Event
As part of President Obama’s nationwide United We Serve campaign, Met Council has conducted several community service projects that focused on creating safer and better prepared communities by providing over 45 low income seniors with emergency identification resources that ensure more timely and effective treatment in the event of a medical emergency.
On September 11, the United We Serve campaign culminated with the National Day of Service and Remembrance. To commemorate this day, Met Council held an Emergency Preparedness event that educated low income seniors on how to be prepared for different emergency situations.
Twelve dedicated volunteers, including a group from Morgan Stanley, came out on a rainy Friday afternoon to help make 14 medical identification cards, give out resources such as maps, winter gear, candles, and distribute informational hand-outs covering such emergencies as fire, extreme heat, thunderstorms, and flu viruses.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this feat possible!
