National
Volunteer Week!
April 21st - 27th
During this week, millions across the county will come together to recognize
and honor our volunteers. It goes without saying all the great deeds these
people do for their communities. On average, close to 25% of people over the
age of 16 volunteer every year. Ranging from young college students to senior
citizens, these individuals have shown the character of our community and the
willingness to give back. It is vital this week that we all take the time to
thank all our past and present volunteers here at Met Council, who graciously
give their time for others in need.
A special thank you should go to all who have given their time and effort towards those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Through our Sandy Relief Programs, hundreds of affected Jewish families have been provided which essential goods and services ranging from food to household item. Due to this devastating storm, clients in need of kosher food for Passover increased. We also would like to send a special thank you for those who volunteered for our various Passover packaging and distribution projects, to provide kosher food to hundreds of families.
We should all take time during this week to recognize all our great volunteers here at Met Council, and all the amazing work they have done for our community!
